Disability Law & Advocacy Center of Tennessee (DLAC) is a federally mandated agency, 100% funded by the Administration for Children and Families, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, the Rehabilitation Services Administration, the Health Resources and Services Administration, and the Social Security Administration.
As part of the nationally mandated Protection and Advocacy System, DLAC receives federal funding for different programs designed to provide services to distinct groups of individuals (eligibility varies by grant).
Our Federally Funded Programs include:
- Protection & Advocacy for Individuals with Developmental Disabilities
(DD ACT - PADD Program) 1983
- Client Assistance Program (CAP Program) 1984
- Protection & Advocacy for Individuals with Mental Illness Act
(PAIMI Program) in 1986
- Protection & Advocacy for Individual Rights
(PAIR Program) 1994
- Protection & Advocacy for Assistive Technology
(PAAT Program) 1994
- Protection & Advocacy for Beneficiaries of Social Security
(PABSS Program) 2001
- Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI Program)
- Help America Vote Act (HAVA/PAVA Program) 2003
